Sorry David, but you are not doing something incorrect. There is just nothing out there. The only point that speaks against you is your age. There are just also many more mature folks with more encounter out there, who also have no work opportunities.

My suggestion: Locate a hobby that you can make a minor income with. If you can cook, make jellies or chocolates or some thing like that and have a property sale, exactly where you can market your food things as well. Be inventive. Great Luck.

We are in a recession, employers are being careful with who they choose to work for them. I don't know what you are doing wrong but since this is probably a first job you are applying for maybe the employers want someone with a bit of work experience, maybe doing some volunteering work could help boost your CV.

do you have experience? that's usually why a lot of teens have a hard time finding work. i suggest you consider looking for volunteer opportunities that will give you skills, like working in a library might get you work in a bookstore, if you play a sport well - act as a volunteer coach for local youth to get experience working with kids, if you are good in some subject like a language, math, or science (ap level), you can almost always find a job as a tutor.

it's not just putting in applications these days cuz there are a lot of people who normally wouldn't do those jobs that are out of work.

good luck!

You probably haven't been lying on your resume enough.

There are three ways you can get a job. The most common way is to know someone in the business. If you ask anyone who has a crummy entry level job 70% will say they knew someone in the business that could get them the job they had.

The others will say that they were over-qualified or that they lied on their resume. The problem is your lack of experience. SO you should A) Lie on your resume or B) Volunteer somewhere that will give you experience on the job. Like at a fire house or an ambulance bay or in the civil air patrol. Try that for a year and apply at a place that says "experience is preferred but not needed". If they say it's preferred then they really mean it's needed...
